Performance inspection for Class II biological safety cabinets is implemented following biosafety standards. Key indicators including airflow velocity, airflow pattern, HEPA filter integrity, negative pressure sealing performance, noise level and illuminance are tested comprehensively. Standard testing methods are adopted to evaluate the biological protection performance of cabinets in biological experiments and microbiological research, safeguard operators, test samples and ambient environment, and meet the safety management requirements of biosafety laboratories.

Inspection Equipment

Airflow velocity tester, differential pressure gauge, HEPA filter integrity tester, noise meter, illuminance meter, particle counter, airflow visualization smoke generator

Key Indicators and Inspection Requirements

1. Airflow velocity: downflow velocity 0.38±0.025 m/s, inflow velocity 0.57±0.025 m/s

2. Airflow direction: no reverse flow, fluctuation ≤5%

3. Sealing performance: pressure decay ≤10% per minute under 500 Pa

4. Cleanliness class: not lower than ISO Class 5

5. Noise level: ≤67 dB(A)

6. Illuminance: ≥350 lx

Inspection Methods and Implementation Points

1. All tests are carried out in accordance with GB 19489-2008

2. Airflow velocity: grid measurement with a hot-wire anemometer

3. Airflow direction verification: smoke generator for flow visualization

4. Sealing test: pressure decay method

5. Cleanliness monitoring: particle counter sampling

6. Noise measurement: A-weighted sound level recording

Precautions

1. Fully clean and disinfect the cabinet interior prior to testing

2. Eliminate ambient airflow interference in the test area

3. Ensure the anemometer meets grade 2 or higher calibration standard

4. Fully close all door and opening interfaces of the cabinet

5. Restrict unnecessary personnel movement during testing

6. Carry out rectification and retest for non-compliant units
