Introduction

A Raman spectrometer is an analytical instrument used to measure the Raman scattering of light by a sample, which provides information about the molecular structure and the chemical composition, and it is used in chemistry, materials science, pharmaceuticals, forensics, geology, and many other fields. The Raman spectrometer illuminates the sample with a monochromatic laser, and the light scattered by the sample is collected and analyzed; most of the scattered light has the same wavelength as the laser, but a small fraction is shifted in wavelength, due to the inelastic scattering by the molecular vibrations, and this Raman shift is characteristic of the chemical bonds and the molecular structure of the sample, and the Raman spectrum shows the peaks at the characteristic shifts, which allow the identification and the characterization of the materials; the Raman spectrometer provides a non-destructive analysis, and it can analyze solids, liquids, and gases, with little or no sample preparation, and it is used with a microscope for the analysis of small areas and particles, and it is available as laboratory instruments and as portable instruments; the Raman spectrometer is used for the identification of organic and inorganic compounds, for the analysis of polymers, for the analysis of pharmaceuticals, for the analysis of minerals and gemstones, for the forensic analysis, for the analysis of artworks, and for many other applications. Raman spectrometers are used in research and quality control laboratories in many industries, in forensic laboratories, in the pharmaceutical industry, and for many other applications. With their molecular information, Raman spectrometers are essential for molecular analysis.

FAQ

Q1: What scenarios is this spectrometer used for?

A: It identifies materials, polymorphs, chemicals and evidence from Raman scattering using a laser, often through glass or packaging with little preparation.

Q2: What standards does it comply with?

A: It follows ASTM E1840 and E2529 for Raman, USP <1120>, related ISO and GB/T standards, with wavelength calibration verified.

Q3: What is the warranty?

A: The spectrometer carries a 12 to 24 month warranty covering optics and controls. Lasers are wear parts. Damage from misuse or unauthorized repair is excluded.

Q4: Is it hard to operate?

A: Routine identification is simple after libraries are set, but interpretation requires trained staff. We provide a manual, installation and training.

Q5: What is the lead time?

A: Standard models require 7-30 working days. In-stock units can ship within 3-7 working days. Custom configurations or large built-to-order systems may require additional time, and we confirm the exact schedule before order confirmation.

Q6: Is calibration required?

A: We recommend verification against traceable standards at regular intervals, typically every 6 to 12 months, and keeping calibration records for audit purposes. The manual describes the procedure, and reference standards are available from us. Accredited third-party calibration can also be arranged on request.

Q7: Are consumables universal?

A: Compatible items are single-use consumables designed for this application. They are widely available in standard sizes, and we can supply them directly or confirm the specification so you can source them locally. Ongoing cost is limited to these consumables, and there are no proprietary locked parts.

Q8: Can it be customized?

A: Yes, several configurations are available. Options include laser wavelength, fiber probes, microscopy, imaging and libraries. We can discuss further custom requirements, confirm feasibility and advise any effect on the schedule before the order is confirmed.

Q9: Is installation included?

A: Standard delivery includes the spectrometer and manual. On-site installation and training are typically included or recommended.

Q10: What samples are compatible?

A: It handles solids, liquids and powders with Raman signal. It is not for strongly fluorescent samples without suitable conditions, non-Raman-active trace targets, or samples beyond safety limits.
